Her Own Sashay®, established in 2016, is a platform for the ladies created to inspire and encourage each woman and girl to live a life owning who she is inside and out®. Welcome to her new site, 2020.

Hola. I’m Lorena… writer, speaker, and founder of Her Own Sashay®. I am being introduced to my true self each and every day that I spend time with God. Yes, I am a believer. But do you understand that this road is a journey that I’ve had to walk from within? One must go in to push what is, out. Hence, my world and love for true beauty come from who I am on the inside. I need every shade of lipstick to compliment my soul. My shoes tell a story of where I have been, where I am going, and a few of my aspirations. My naturally curly and coily hair will tell you of my unique and handcrafted path from my creator.

You read that correctly, curly and coily. I am mixed and proud. Do you want to talk about the years it took to come into an understanding of what that even meant as a young Black and Mexican American girl growing up? I was kind of shoved into it. Yet, so grateful. You see, I always felt compelled to fit into a box that had a label for acceptance. My, how I am ever so grateful that I never did. We are not meant to be shoved into a limiting box, hindering room for expression.

And so it is, Her Own Sashay® is my letter to every young woman and girl in a shared word of inspiration, from a place I have walked. It truly is freeing to be who you are, inside and out. Once you identify it, you have the ability to own it, and the freedom to express it. You have a starting point, beautiful. It comes from within. Now be inspired and encouraged to sashay it out as you journey down your unique runway to destiny.
