Empty Your Purse

What’s in your bag?

You may be dressed cute, but are you carrying baggage? It is so easy to play dress up and put on a facade that everything pretty externally is reciprocated internally. Much like the handbags that we carry, the image of perfection is only shown on the surface, but it is the weight within that determines how much we can hold on the inside before everything tears apart. It’s only a matter of time. The Holy Spirit is powerful and able to pierce through the thick leather layers that we use to conceal all of our baggage within. We need a deep cleaning. God knows all of the junk that we have built up and wants to release the weight so that we can move forward in life. Beautiful, it is time to release the baggage and the unnecessary weight of carrying things that do not belong nor serve a purpose for you. We bring our handbags on a trip with a destination in mind. If it is heavy and weighing you down, why continue to carry it when it serves no purpose for where you are going?

Some things have to go.

Have you ever had so much junk in your purse, to the point where it felt uncomfortable? This is prevalent when your arms and shoulder get tired, your bruised skin forms red and purple indentations from the excess weight, and you can’t bear it any longer. You try and set your purse down momentarily, only to pick it back up and rotate arms, but find yourself repeating the same cycle. The same applies to our soul and spirit. Our heavenly Father is extending his hands to release the weight and set us free. The Word teaches us in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

It’s time to let go of the hurt, past, rejection, fear, pain, insecurity, grudge, and control. There is a spiritual cleaning needed to take place in order to help you grow and mature into the new life of freedom God has called you to. He did it for me and beautiful, He will do it for you. “I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket. In your distress, you called and I rescued you.” Psalm 81:7-7. You were never meant to carry it on your own.

Release and don’t look back.

The added weight is a haunting distraction that constantly reminds you that something is not being dealt with. The longer you try to ignore it, the more damage it does to you. Not only does it slow down the process, but it makes moving forward that much harder. I see your mini cosmetics bag, vegan leather wallet, and phone. Is there really anything else you are gripping that needs to stay? Take inventory. God showed me how too many of my cute bags were unnecessarily filled to capacity. He helped me unload to have my arms available to receive the good that was to come in exchange. Why waste time carrying an unnecessary load that leaves no room for you to receive the promises that will soon need a place to reside? Release it to Him beautiful and be about your way, heels and all. Stand tall and free from the release.
