Harvesting a Good Morning Routine

A hashtag worthy life.

A good morning routine is not only a nice concept for pinning and inspirational video content, it is an absolutely necessary lifestyle rooted in sown discipline for reaping the full potential of who you are within and all that you were created for.

In my personal relationship with God, He revealed to me the importance of obedience and divine order, the two prequels that lead to the understanding of the importance of good stewardship. Our lives are to be stewarded in such a way that allows for all that He has entrusted in us to flourish. How honoring would it be for each of his daughters to rise up each day with such intentionality? Understand your worth, sis. He sees you. He adores you and has entrusted so much to you. Be true to who you are. You owe it to yourself, beautiful.

Set that early alarm.

While heavy (drool puddle) in my beauty sleep, Alexa sounds off the alarm in the early morning hours. It is usually still dark out, yet faintly lit as daybreak slowly approaches on the east. This is that moment we all have to make our first wise decision of the day. Now whether I decide to snooze or follow the promptings to be disciplined, determines who and what is allowed to dictate the type of day I enter into. We always have a choice.

Meditate.

The decision to set our minds early in the morning makes all the difference. Once my eyes open, I am faced with the opportunity to meditate on good things or not. It is a choice we have right before we give our feelings and emotions time to rise up and take control. If we are not intentional, we can easily choose to succumb to all of the mundane cares of the world. The word of God teaches us to set our minds on things above and not on things of this world. While easier said than done, I have found that devoting quiet time to write down everything that I am grateful for helps me to set my mind and enter into God’s presence with thanksgiving.

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Philippians 4:8

Pray.

And then there is prayer, an opportunity to give our cares to the one more powerful than our own abilities and heed his instruction. Believing that His strength is made perfect in our weakness releases the pressure that we can so easily be tempted to take on ourselves. Entering into a deeper level of intimacy and total dependency ignites our faith and allows us to focus on His promises for provision and increase. It releases the weight. In prayer, I receive guidance. In prayer, there is peace and rest.

Workout and nourish.

That which our spirit and mind reside in is our body. It must be strong and properly nourished. Pushing my body beyond its perceived limitations enables me to master the art and benefits of persistence and commitment. Two years ago, I made the decision to take back control over my body and workout routinely. You can too. It is your temple. It needs energy. I have found that my body is fueled with a filling green smoothie or healthy pancakes first thing in the morning. Whatever healthy breakfast works for you and your body, do right by it. Your body will respond. Give it a good boost in the morning.

Be intentional.

Commit to practicing good stewardship over your life from the moment you wake up each day. I have grown to learn that the best mornings are intentional and sown with good discipline. Be inspired to welcome in each day prepared like the proverbs 31 woman that you are. Though we can’t control others and unforeseen circumstances, I have certainly learned that it is my responsibility to control myself, regardless. Make room for His investment in you to flourish. Taking care of the essentials is our role: mind, body, and spirit. There is peace I have found in leaving the rest to him each day.
